Clean and Green University! An Ideology or Fact

Students and staff of IIMC taking the Swachhata Pledge Swachhata Hi Seva, taking the ideology behind the Swachhata Pakhwada mission in mind IIMC   students embarked on a cleanliness drives this January. The mission behind the drive was to clean the University of Sant Gadge Baba Amravati and make an analysis of the garbage collected. The drive started on 16 th January 2019 with the students and staff taking the Swachhata Pledge . By collecting and categorizing the garbage the students found everyday they made a conclusive result of just how much waste there is and what consists of majority in this waste. The findings helped students understand the consumption habits of the people in the university. What was consumed the most, the least and what was consumed at regular time periods. With this finding a report of the matter was shared which said that tobacco, particularly chewing tobacco and cigarettes , was the majority waste found in the university campus amounting

District’s 1.25 Lakh Families Become Smoke Free

Amravati, 3rd  January 2019 : “Under the scheme of the Central government, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana 1.25Lakh families in the Amravati district have received LPG Cylinders, as of 31st December 2018,” said Mr. Yaglesh Jharvadekar, Amravti division head of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas , at a press conference which was held to inform and urge the people of Amravati to join this scheme. As per Mr. Jharvadekar, at least 5Cr. women, who have the BPL card, shall receive an LPG cylinder by March 2019 and another 3Cr. LPG cylinder are to be distributed, by 2020, for which the government has invested Rs. 12,800Cr.   He advised the people of Amravati who want to be included in this scheme to inform the Nodal office of the District, Mr. Sumit Devgade. He also said that those who shall use this scheme shall also be given subsidy on the tax of the LPG cylinder. Regional Campuses better than Delhi: K. G. Suresh

Difference in Water level in Maharastra in the month of January

On the basis of the findings of the Maharashtra`s Water Resource Department a bar chart has been shared here. The Chart informs us on the percentage of Water level in Reservoirs, Storage and Flood of 19th January 2019 against the level in 19th January 2018. As per the data the city of Amravati saw an increase in water level almost 9 percent. The worst hit city is Aurngabad which has gone down by almost 45 percent. The data is an interpretation of real time water level. Nagpur city has more or less not have a drastic effect on the water level going down by only 5 percent. A map has also been shared showcasing the same data in location wise format below.

Developments of Narendra Dabholkar murder case

The Mumbai HC has said to take instant action and not depend on independent investigation of Gauri Lankesh. Further out of the three accused arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation Rohit Rege has received bail after CBI fails to file charge-sheet. The case started back in August of 2013, when Dr.Dabholkar out on a morning walk was shot down by two unidentified gunmen near Omkareshwar temple, Pune at 7:20 AM IST.  The police had stated that it was under suspicion that it was a planned murder because the assailants were aware Dabholkar stay in Pune. Later a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed by activist Ketan Tirodkar, urging the case to be investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) instead of the state police, over lack of faith over the latter. On 17 January 2014, during his visit to Pune,the then Home Minister R. R. Patil gave Pune police a week to make some progress or hand over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

An interview with Mr.Rajesh Manager of Taste of South Resturant, Amravati

In the monsoon season of 2018, Amravati has not seen a lot of rainfall. Due to this there has been a lot of water shortage in the city. To get a commercial perspective on how restaurants are dealing with this issue, students of IIMC reached out to the Manager of Taste of South , Amravati to get their views on the subject. As per the Manager, the general population has been the most effected in this situation. he said that restaurants like us are able to pay a little fee and get more water available but for localities it has become a huge issue. on asking him what Taste of South is doing to contribute to the water shortage, he shared some interesting stuff with us.
